Don "Swannie" Swanson Tailgate Party and Awards
Our annual tradition continues with the party now named after our dear friend Don "Swannie" Swanson. The party follows the presentation by coach Brewster on Friday evening. In addition to giving the mic to funnyman Dick Joncowski, we present a number of awards recognizing members of our association for various accomplishments. We wrap things up by presenting a number of door prizes and opening the event up to a general social.
Rockford brings Recent Domination of Big School Football in Michigan
to the MFCA Clinic

Head Coach Ralph Munger and Special Teams Coordinator Steve Dengler will be presenting on Friday and Saturday morning of the clinic. Under Munger's direction, Rockford has won the Michigan big school state championship in 2004, 2005, and 2008. This past season, Rockford finished with an 11-1 record. Munger is recognized as a program builder and an innovative offensive coach. This innovation has carried over to the Special Teams side of the ball in recent years.
Southern Illinois Staff Made-Up of Familiar Faces
The Southern Illinois Staff that will be presenting at the MFCA clinic is made up of several former college head coaches. SIU head coach Dale Lennon is a familiar face, having served a highly  successful tenure as head coach at UND including winning the 2001 DII National Championship. SIU defensive coordinator Bubba Schweigert is also a former UND assistant and UMD head coach. Randy Hedberg served as HC at St. Cloud State prior to joining the SIU staff and most recently, Kalen DeBoer who guided the University of Sioux Falls to two NAIA National Championships also joined the staff as offensive coordinator.

Coach Gary Gaines, Odessa Permian High School, Odessa, TX
Gary Gaines was the head coach of the 1988 Permian High School football team which was the focus of the book Friday Night Lights and the 2004 motion picture Friday Night Lights starring Billy Bob Thornton. Gaines went on to work as an assistant at Texas Tech University and served as head coach at Abilene Christian University from 2000 to 2004 before returning to Odessa as district athletic director in 2005. In 2009, he returned to the role of head football coach at Odessa. Coach Gaines will present a two-hour breakout Friday morning on the Shotgun Power Run Game and Play action Passing and will be our headline speaker Friday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 on Developing a Championship Football Culture. 

Funding and Installing Turf Fields
This year's clinic will feature new topics that relate to issues facing coaches around the state. On Friday morning, Neal Lawson, Assistant Superintendent for Business, Orono Schools and Jay Pomeroy, Vice President and Landscape Architect, Anderson-Johnson Associates will present how you can develop a plan for proposing and funding installing a turf field.
