Tom
Gunderson is a graduate of Dodge Center High School. A four-sport letter
winner, he was named the school's outstanding senior athlete. He earned
a BA from Augsburg College where he lettered in baseball. He has taught
for 33 years, 32 of which have been in St. Paul. Tom coached baseball,
boys basketball and softball at the junior high level. His high school
coaching has included boys basketball, football, cross country, track
and girls basketball. His 28 years of coaching girls basketball have all
been at St. Paul City Conference schools, including Harding, Johnson and
Central. Throughout his 33 years of coaching, his teams have been Twin
City Champions eight times, conference champions 11 times, and have made
seven trips to the state tournament where they were consolation champs
once, had one third place finish, were runner-up twice and won two
championships.
