Congratulations to our 2010 Minnesota State Girls Basketball
Champions and Runner-ups. The State Champion in class AAAA,
undefeated Lakeville North defeated White Bear Lake. AAA
Champion, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, defeated Hill-Murray in a
suspenseful game. AA Champion Minnehaha Academy won their
first state Championship defeating Braham, and Class A
Champion, Barnum, defeated Goodhue, winning their first
state title.

The MGBCA All-Star Series was held April 16-17th at
Macalester College. The series ended with the All-Stars of
AAAA defeating the A All-Stars in the Championship game
Saturday afternoon. Congratulations to all the All-Stars and

Thank you to the All-Star Committee Chairs: Jenny Johnson
and Carla Young and their committee; Jen Rademacher, Erin
Herman, Lynn Dalhed, Patty Sorensen and Amy Bellus. I would
also like to thank our class coordinators: Rick Uttech,
Brian Atkinson, Bill Gottenborg and Dave Preller. This event
would not be possible without the extra time and effort of
this exceptional group of individuals.
On Friday April 16th, we inducted four new members into the
Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. 2010 is our
17th year of Hall of Fame ceremonies and we now have 77
members inducted through the years. The MGBCA is very proud
to announce our 2010 inductees and thank them for their
extraordinary efforts to Minnesota Girls Basketball. 2010
inductees are: Bill Gottenborg from Hawley, Rick Sczublewski
from Pierz, Jon Noreen from Albany and former North Dakota
State University women’s coach, Amy Ruley. Pat Barrett and
the Miss Basketball Committee did another exceptional job
observing our candidates for 2010. This year’s honor goes to
Cassie Rochel from Lakeville North.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of you for your commitment
to Minnesota Girls Basketball. It has been an honor and
privilege to serve as President of the MGBCA. It’s been a
great experience and an opportunity to connect with many of
you throughout the state. I welcome Patty Sorenson from Park
Center as the incoming President. Patty has been very active
in our Association and will do a great job. Have a great
