Girls Lacrosse Coaches Meeting Minutes

In attendance:
Guy Jones, Gary Gregus, Billie Moir, Heather Brick, Kirsten Opalinski, Sarah Bourne

Agenda Items:
- Membership Report (Ana, I will send you what I have for your records)
- Treasury Report
- Choose a treasurer
- Create a "Coaches' Handbook."  The boys' side is interested in this project as well.
- Set writers "Prep Coach" articles.
   - March 1 - Rachel Aiken (topic?)  Sarah is getting a donation for an editorial cartoon for this issue as well (1/4 page)
   - May 1 - Topic?
- Set procedures for State Selection (Rachel sends outline and wish list to meeting?)  Announce team at All-Star Game (certificates this year?)
- Create an All-Star Game committee
- Address other issues as needed.

• Rules meeting with clinic – talk to Rich Matter (Sarah)
• Build chat time into clinic
• Gary volunteers to help with clinic
• Billie and Sarah volunteer to help with traveling team
• Billie sends out handbook file
• Sarah talks to Howard at MSHSL – stats
• Prep Coach Article for May 1 – Kristen
• Guy volunteers to head up All Star Game Committee
• All State Certificates this year
• AA forms online.  Pre-nomination forms due soon
• NT players must be nominated by March 10
• NT players must register and submit MSHSL waivers by March 29
• Discuss scholarship program with MLA – March deadline (Sarah)
• Rules – how to get USL and MSHSL on the same page by Billie Moir
• Consistency with USL rules is key.  MN rules should not deviate from National rules – this holds our players back.
• MSHSL in an effort to relieve budgets has been discussing decreases the number of games in a season as well as increasing the number of halves a player can play in a day.
• Mounds View hosts state tourney (confirmation this week)
• MLA Women’s lacrosse sub-committee meets with Heather (women’s rep) – needs a rep from MSHSCA-GL and NSLA
• MLA working on spectacular website
• Hot Dish tourney in fall will drop youth division and add high school and college girls (team enters with different coach)
• Gary recommends centralizing information for coaches (online and with the handbook) to help all coaches get on the same page about memberships
