Spring has sprung; it’s finally here! After the long bitter days of winter, girls’ lacrosse programs in the state of Minnesota are gearing up for a fantastic spring. As lacrosse coaches, we are quickly preparing for our rapidly approaching start date of March 23. We continue to organize and finalize our last minute schedule changes, hire coaches, attend meetings, and prepare team activities for what promises to be a jam packed season. With three games a week in an 11 week season, Sections and a State Tournament, we are all hoping for Mother Nature to cooperate.

As the season starts we are pleased with the hard work that was put in during the offseason with our newly formed coaches association. Our programs here in Minnesota are slowly but rightfully getting on board with the rest of the country with approved rule changes by the Minnesota State High School League.  We welcome the improvements as our sport grows and as we “catch up” to establish regions around the country.

The sport known as the “fast game on two feet” will swing in and out very quickly. With each step forward every year brings the promise of a bright future for girls’ lacrosse in the North Star State.
