2006 - 2007 Section and Class Head and Assistant Coaches of the Year Announced

ICE CHIPS (9/3/07)

CHRIS LONKE

MHCA COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

HAMLINE UNIVERSITY

I hope everyone’s summer was enjoyable, safe, and restful.  The school year is in session and hockey season is around the corner.  Each fall, season and new year brings change and this year is not different.

We have had numerous coaching changes, first time head coaches named, and positions still to be filled.  Here is a look at some of the changes we are aware of:

Aaron Johnson(1)- Orono                   John Barger-New Prague

Steve Olinger- Chaska                        Bryce Barry(1)-Northfield

Brian Urick(1)- Minnetonka               Tim Schnobrich(1)-Proctor

Scotts Woods-Alexandria                   Ken Pauly-Back to Benilde

Aaron Forsthye(1)-Forest Lake          Aaron Gill(1)-Lourdes

Kris Dougherty(1)-Apollo                  Steve McCormack(1)-Simley

I’m sure that I have missed a few.  Please update me if you get a chance.  The number (1) is for first time head coaches, Best Of Luck to YOU.

Current positions still to be filled still are Eastview, Breck, and Wadena.

The fall clinic will take place in St. Cloud, MN October 26th and 27th.  Bob Motzko and staff will be our hosts, as they take on Tom Serratores’ Bemidji State Beavers. The host hotel will be the Holiday Inn and the clinic presentations will be held on campus at the Atwood Center.  Registration forms can be found at our website www.mnhca.com.

The fall elite leagues will be in full force as you read this Ice Chips.  Get out and support your players and the league by watching a game or two.  The NAHL showcase is the third weekend of September, some former players of yours would probably love to see you in Blaine and its great for current players to see the level of play for post high school aspirations.

Keep a look out for Lou Nanne’s book about the entire North Stars history.  Any John Wooden book is a good read and Eyewitness To Power about one person working directly with five different presidents is an interesting book.

Have a great fall!
