Rules Interpretation Meeting Requirements Have Changed

The MSHSL Rules Interpretation meeting requirements have changed for Nordic Skiing. The MSHSL if only requiring the Head Coach to attend a rules meeting this year. The assistant coaches will not have to attend a meeting. The assistant coaches will still need to complete the Coach’s Clipboard requirements for continuing education. Our Fall meeting will count as a Rules Interpretation meeting. Our Fall Meeting will start at 9:30am at the Vasaloppet Training Center in Mora. There will be an opportunity for you to visit with various vendors prior to the meeting and during breaks. 

If head coaches are unable to attend the fall meeting on the October 27th, they will also be able to meet the Rules Interpretation requirement by attending one of the other two meetings. The date has changed for the other two meetings. They have been changed from Halloween to Wednesday November 7th. The meeting time and locations will remain the same. 7:00pm at either Robbinsdale Cooper or the Marshall School in Duluth.

Coaches: Your school is invited to participate in the Minnesota State Nordic Ski Association’s relay to be held on the afternoon preceding the State Nordic Ski Meet. We must limit the entry to this event to 40 teams of boys and 40 teams of girls. Complete Details

State Meet and Year End Awards Info

Section Academic Award applications are due to Fred Kueffer by Friday February 10th. The form can be down loaded from the MN Nordic Ski Coaches Assoc. website. You can email this directly to: fredkueffer@isd623.org

The annual Charlie Banks State Relays will take place on Wednesday February 15, 2012. Bib pick up will be at Noon, the boys relay at 1:00PM and the girls relay at 2:00PM. You may enter more than one team of boys and or girls, but must designate your competitive team. The race is limited to 40 boys teams and 40 girls teams. You may register your team(s) at http://www.boreal.org/~durfee
Registration closes on Monday 2.13.12 at 8:00PM

The State Coaches meeting will take place at 4:30PM in the Sports Dorm.

The annual State Meet banquet will begin at 6:00PM. Tickets are $15.00 and will be available at the coaches meeting and prior to the banquet. 

Mike Hecker has agreed to put a slide show together for the banquet. Here are the guidelines to follow if you have a team or athletes that qualify for the State Meet and would like to be included;

MN State High School Nordic Ski Coaches’ Association

Mission Statement

1. To develop and promote nordic skiing opportunities for Minnesota high school skiers on a competitive basis.

2. To establish and support uniform and equitable rules for high school athletes in nordic skiing.

3. To act as a vehicle for Minnesota coaches to communicate with the MSHSL regarding rules, regulations,and section and state meet format.

4. To elevate standards of sportsmanship and to provide youth with leadership role models through coaches, administrators, and other adult team personnel.

5. To maintain good communication and relationships with all agencies involved in developing nordic skiing and to unify efforts among these groups.

6. To promote coaches' education and be a source of information for nordic skiing at all levels.
