COACHES EDUCATION

We are very lucky to have the opportunity to have USST's Matt Whitcomb along with the excellent CXC coaches at our meeting this year. They will be conducting a hands-on technique clinic as well as presenting information on CXC's development programs and the coaches' certification program.

Here is a preliminary outline of the program CXC and the USST will be presenting. The presentation will begin right after lunch.

CXC Academy Presentation by Bill Pierce, CXC Junior Development Program Coach (approx. 10-15 min.)

USSA Coaches' Certification Level 100 Presentation by Matt Whitcomb, US Ski Team (approx. 20 min.)

Classic and Skate Technique Progression Clinic on rollerskis, by Matt Whitcomb with CXC coaches Bryan Fish, Yuriy Gusev, Bill Pierce and CXC Elite team members (approx. 1:30-2:00 hrs). Bring both classic and skate rollerskis. CXC will have rollerskis available for those needing them.

The classic and skate technique progression clinic is free of charge. Matt will be available after the clinic to talk with coaches interested in completing the level 100 coaches' certification.

Please RSVP to Yuriy Gusev at yuriy.gusev@cxcskiing.org if you are planning to attend. Matt needs a minimum of 20 participants to hold this clinic. As of today (10/6/08) there are 15 coaches who have RSVP'd. The CXC will have goody bags and USST will have raffle prizes for all clinic participants.

So . . . RSVP today! Head coaches have to attend a rules meeting . . . why not combine the "have to's" with some excellent coaches' education opportunities!

As a favor to the shop please pay with a single check, rather than a check from each member of your team. Please order carefully, this offer is available once per season per team.

If you are unable to conveniently get the order to your local shop you may email the order to the Toko Rep for Minnesota, Mike Lundeen at mike@tokous.com. In this event you will still need to identify your local shop so Toko may ship directly to the shop.

Mission Statement

1. To develop and promote nordic skiing opportunities for Minnesota high school skiers on a competitive basis.

2. To establish and support uniform and equitable rules for high school athletes in nordic skiing.

3. To act as a vehicle for Minnesota coaches to communicate with the MSHSL regarding rules, regulations,and section and state meet format.

4. To elevate standards of sportsmanship and to provide youth with leadership role models through coaches, administrators, and other adult team personnel.

5. To maintain good communication and relationships with all agencies involved in developing nordic skiing and to unify efforts among these groups.

6. To promote coaches' education and be a source of information for nordic skiing at all levels.
