As you read this article, all of you that coach girls tennis are heading into the final half of the season. Time is flying by. Hopefully, you are having enjoyable seasons with a lot of great tennis play. Membership is the driving force for the tennis association, so it is important that you renew your membership.  We need your help in recruiting more coaches, as well as assistant coaches, to join our association.

Be sure to keep your results and schedule updated on the MSHSL web page.  If you do not have a code to enter the administration site, check with your athletic director.

We are searching for candidates from Class A who would be willing to serve as president-elect for two years and then become president for two additional years. It is a great opportunity to become more involved with our association and work with great people who have the desire to improve high school tennis.

Congratulation to Cory Thorson of Thief River Falls (Class A) and Mike Cartwright of Mounds View (Class AA) for being selected as the boys tennis coaches of the year from this past spring.  Congratulations also to our assistant coaches of the year, Cindy Walz of Aitkin (Class A), and Jeff Fedor of Blaine, and Chuck Whalen of Brainerd (Class AA).           

Mark your calendars.  The 2009 MSHSTCA COACHES CLINIC will be March 6th and March 7th, 2009, at the Fred Wells Tennis and Learning Center.  Registration forms will be put onto the web in the near future.

Remember to check out our website (www.mshsca.org/tennis). All forms need to be printed from our website (they will not be mailed).  Rankings, clinic information, award forms, hall of fame criteria, and other important information are posted on the web.

DEADLINES:

Please keep our website bookmarked and check it often during your season.  Please note the list of important dates at the top of the home page.  Be sure to meet the deadlines for becoming a member, sending in academic forms, etc. so you and your team do not miss out on awards your athletes or you deserve.  Your section rep should be forwarding you reminder e-mails, but you should not count on this.  We need to abide by the deadlines we set to have accurate membership lists, so awards can get ordered in a timely manner.
