The Other Side of the Net
Welcome back to another great school year and fall
sports season! What an amazing experience we all just had
with the Beijing Summer Olympics. The coverage by NBC was
wonderful and there were so many riveting stories that we
can all use in our lives for inspiration. The US Men’s
volleyball team defeated Brazil in 4 games to win the gold.
The US Women’s team lost in the gold medal match to Brazil
and both sand gold medals were claimed by US teams. What a
great showing by USA volleyball!
I am almost finished with my presidency. It has
really gone fast. I feel we are doing many positive things
for the sport of volleyball and the best is yet to come! We
have three nominations for president so far. Jim Lee from
Waconia, Scott Jackson from Wayzata, and Jeff Groves from
Apple Valley so far have said they would like to run. If
there are any other people that would like to be on the
ballot, let either me or your BOC know by September 17th.
Our clinic was recently held at Sauk Rapids-Rice
High School and it was a very successful two days. We had
almost 200 preregistered coaches which easily is an all-time
record. Over all we had almost 400 coaches in attendance.
The keynote speaker Keylor Chan from Northwestern was an
excellent presenter and had many great drills and ideas.
