The Tom Critchley Sr. Leadership Award

The Tom Critchley Sr. Leadership Award was established to honor Coach Tom Critchley Sr. for his many years of service not only as a teacher, coach, and administrator, but for his years of service with the MBCA (past president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) as its Executive Director. Coach Critchley has served as the Executive Director for 23 years and help guided the MBCA into the premier sports association in Minnesota. Through his efforts and tireless work ethic to help all student/athletes this award was established.  Coach Critchley has continuously shown relentless dedication to Minnesota basketball and has had a profound impact on both coaches and players, including generations to come.

Remember the head coach must be a member of the MBCA to nominate a player.

The Tom Critchley Sr. Leadership Award Sponsored by the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Criteria:
• The player must be nominated by their respective head coach. The coach must fill out the google form on the coach's website completely and the head coach must be a member of the MBCA.
• The candidate must be a senior and a captain
• Basketball statistics will be considered but his leadership qualities will be weighed more
• The candidate must possess leadership skills both on and off the court
• The player must carry a 3.0 (cumulative) grade point average in an academic core curriculum in his sophomore, junior and first semester of his senior year.
• The player shall not have any Minnesota State High School League eligibility penalties during his high school career.
• The Candidate must write a one page essay defining his leadership abilities and how he uses them not only with his basketball team but also in the school and community as well and email it to Kelly Raymond - k.raymond@komets.k12.mn.us

A committee of coaches from around the State, the MBCA President and Vice-President, Coach Critchley, and his family will go through the candidates and select the most deserving student/athlete.

1. The Tom Critchley Leadership Award winner will be announced to the Media during the state tournament and their coach will be notified via mail or email.
2. The MBCA will award a one time $500.00 scholarship to the winner to be used for college expenses and the winner will also receive a plaque.
3. Coaches please check over your responses before you submit the form.
